About Our Handmade Products All hand made products featured on this website are made at Wickham, Fareham, Hampshire. We have considerable experience both in slab manufacture and in brick work and blockwork. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us and we will do our very best to answer any queries you may have. You are very welcome to visit The Patio Centre where you can often see our products at various stages of the manufacturing process. We are constantly developing new products and have recently added several new colours to our range. The new colours are now available and samples can be seen at our depot. Please note that paving may be delivered from various production batches and may have a very slight shade difference. We recommend that you inter mix the the paving before laying. Colours The colours we have detailed in this web site are as accurate as photography will allow. Tonal variations do occur in natural products so we would advise that you view our products either in situ or at the Patio Centre. Remember: paving slabs look different when they are wet, they look different in bright sunlight, and they will look different after they have been outside for any length of time. Dimensions All Dimensions given are nominal and slight variations due to the nature of paving are to be allowed for. Please note you should allow for joints of 10 to 15 mm between the paving slabs. Cleaning & Maintenance Pressure washers are not recommended for use on patios made from our paving slabs. They damage the surface of the paving slabs and the pointing, this allows the dirt and algae to penetrate deeper into the paving and make it harder to clean the next time. The Patio Centre takes no responsibility for any damage caused by their application. Sealing You will find it much easier to keep your patio clean if you seal the paving slabs. This should be done after 2 weeks of fitting and before 6 weeks. We recommend that you use Thompson's Patio Cleaner prior to applying any sealer . What is efflorescence? All concrete products with a high cement content may in their early life experience a milky white stain on the face of the product. This is efflorescence staining. It is a temporary phenomenon and is in no way detrimental to the performance of the material.
Efforvescence or Effloresence?
Efflorescence is the white chalky substance that forms on concrete. It forms when moisture has been present. It is not dangerous, but it can lead you to moisture issues if it continually forms.
